The Dirty Streets of Heaven by Tad Williams

I won a copy through the Goodreads' Firstreads program.

First of all, I usually enjoy Williams' work.
That said, I got halfway through this story before I started skipping pages. Some of the scenes are way too drawn out, and not in that gunslinger-epic novel style either.
I thought initially this would be a cool take on heaven, angels on the other side, etc. Instead it reads like every other human in the world - who happens to be immortal. The detective work is cliche at best, and the character development is nil.

I will look for another Williams novel in the future, but not in this series. Good luck with everything Bobby Dollar.
